Across the world girls are fighting for a change in dress code. Simple things like ripped jeans or tank tops or even leggings can send a young girl to the principal's office, which can lead to even worse consequence like being suspended or expelled.
In Florida a high school a student got in-school suspension because she was wearing ripped jeans. The students mother went to Facebook and wrote that a school official told her daughter that she needs to think about her affect on the boys around her? Why should a girl have to think about that? Another student in high school faced a problem even worse problem than the last. A junior at Braden River High School named Lizzy Martinez was pulled out of class to be told that she was “ distracting the male students.” We women can go through so much growing up like being body shamed and trying to look perfect and hurting ourselves. Why do we let Society tell us we have to be a certain way or dress a certain way?

Have you ever been so warms in your fuzzy blanket that you don’t want to move? Well that’s happened to me.
One cold Christmas Morning the white show was softly laying on the cold winter ground. The laughs of joy and happiness echoed through my decorated house. My family was finally all together as ready to create unforgettable memories. We all gathered together on the hard stairs to take a family picture. After we got the perfect picture my two brothers and my two sisters rushed over to the stockings. I was excited to open the stockings but they were wild about opening them. We all took turns to carefully open the small gifts that were stuffed in the stockings. Giggles and smiles filled the room. After that it was time to open the big presents. We all headed over to the living room and we all sat down on the comfy couch while we snuggled in our soft and colorful blankets. The fireplace crackled as we started ripping the boxes and bags open. There were presents everywhere along with the red and white wrapping paper. Hours passed and it was time to eat lunch! Cold meat, cranberry sauce, and stuffing pulled onto the bowls and pans. We said “bye” and “be safe” as the door slammed close after we were finished eating. I slowly walked over to the couch and thought of my family, the perfect family. |
