During the week before winter break, Mrs. Hughes' science classes decorated cookies to resemble an animal cell. It included areas such as the cytoplasm (white icing), cell membrane (red licorice), mitochondria (chocolate chips), the nucleus (dark orb), lysosomes (sprinkles), the Golgi bodies or apparatus (gummy worms) and the endoplasmic reticulum (fruit rollups).
